Ann Arbor’s downtown library was dedicated in 1957. There are also four branch libraries: Malletts Creek, Traverwood, Pittsfield, and West. Children and adults alike will love all of the materials offered by AADL -- including books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, and audio books. A variety of events -- such as storytimes, playgroups, and crafts -- are also offered by AADL.

Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum

The Hands-On Museum’s mission is to “inspire people to discover the wonder of science, technology, engineering, art, and math.” The fun exhibits and interactive activities are great for all ages and make learning fun. Kid favorites are the water table, whisper dishes, and bubble capsule. Admission is $11 for adults and children, and $5 after 5 p.m. on Thursdays. Babies (0-23 months) get in free.

The YMCA offers a variety of activities for children, including basketball, soccer, gymnastics, and an indoor track. There is also a pool specifically for families and children to enjoy, and programs for all age levels.

This jungle-themed indoor play center allows kids to play and parents to relax. Free Wi-Fi and a full menu -- including smoothies, coffee, snacks, and sandwiches -- make it an enjoyable day for all ages.

Your kids will love learning about birds and other critters here -- and the best part? It’s free! Leslie Science Center provides environmental education and experiences to foster respect for nature. Children can also attend nature camps and a variety of public programs for all ages.

The Scrap Box promotes creativity and sustainability while teaching eco-friendly ways to recycle -- and your kids will love the unusual, inexpensive recycled materials available for all of their craft projects! They can fill a large bag for $7.50 or a small bag for $5, or attend a workshop where they can make a project with available materials and learn about “reduce, reuse, recycle.”
